What is the Political Courage Test?

Nevada Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I believe a woman has the right to choose what to do with her body. I believe Planned Parenthood budgets and services should be expanded to reduce pregnancies and abortions.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I believe budgets can be balanced by reducing spending and or increasing revenues. I would suggest some of both, i.e. reducing costs in some areas while increasing revenues, particularly from the wealthy that received tax breaks from the Tax Bill of 2017.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
While I strongly support our national defense, I believe there is too much waste and corruption in defense spending. Until that waste and corruption is eliminated, I would not vote to increase spending, unless we were in a full-scale war.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
I believe federal spending can encourage economic growth by eliminating obstacles and by the building of infrastructure that will encourage economic growth. I believe corporate taxes should not be lowered any more than the current rate; however, many of the deductions that don't pertain to the nature of the business should be eliminated. I believe our country should have a safety net for its citizens and businesses through difficult times.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
I believe we should have national standards for education. Without those standards, our education will be influenced by partisanship and religious extremes. I want our students to graduate with the same abilities across the country.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I believe government should fund and encourage the development of renewable energy. It is expensive to transition to new forms of energy, and the government should assist in that transition. I believe in federal regulation of greenhouse emissions; no Americans should be less safe than others.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I support the 2nd Amendment and I do not want to take ordinary guns away from people. I am opposed to assault weapons, bump stocks, silencers etc. that threaten the safety of Americans. I like to talk in terms of gun safety and or common-sense gun safety rather than gun control. We need to have more emphasis on gun safety.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
I would like to disconnect health insurance from employment for two reasons: 1. Healthcare should not diminish when you lose your job or don't have one; healthcare needs to be constant. 2. It's asking too much for employers to carry the healthcare burden alone in this country.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I do not support building a wall along the Mexican border. It's ineffective, costly, and makes no sense to me. I support comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform while maintaining border security.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
We should use military force only if necessary or in self-defense to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We should use military force as a last resort. I believe we should reduce our military intervention in the Middle East and replace it with an economic intervention.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Open trade is generally good trade. Trade will suffer if we implement barriers because countries will counter and then the battle begins.
My three top priorities are to fix healthcare, revive the economy, and rebuild our country from the bottom up starting with infrastructure and ending with government. We need to eliminate Gerrymandering, Filibusters, Citizens United, and Closed Primaries. We need good governance where government lives within its means, has less partisanship, and works for every American citizen. I believe in fairness, equal opportunity, individual liberties and freedoms while living the American Dream.
